Burning Odor or White Smoke from Motor Exhaust
Pungent electrical burning smell emitted within seconds of powering on. Machine dome becomes scorching hot. Visible wisps of smoke from rear exhaust.
Possible Causes
Severe motor or electrical breakdown warnings:
- Moisture Ingress into Armature: Dirty water aerosol pulled into the high-speed motor, causing electrical arcing between commutator copper segments.
- Carbon Brush Depletion: Carbon brushes worn down to the brass retaining clip, gouging the spinning armature.
- Seized Rotor Bearing: High-speed ball bearing seized from lack of lubrication, stalling the rotor and burning electromagnetic windings.
EMERGENCY SAFETY WARNING: Unplug immediately! Continued running risks irreversible coil burnout or home electrical short-circuits.
Diagnostic & Check Steps
